Click on the Start Button . Go to and click on Control Panel.
In "Control Panel" click on Network and Sharing Center.
In "Network and Sharing Center" click on Change adaptor settings.
Locate the default dialer. It'll be the one with the green circle with a check mark in it. Right-click once on it and click on Properites in the drop-down menu.
Under the "General" tab in the "Connect Using:" area. There might be 2 modems listed, make sure the check mark is next the modem that is installed on your computer.
Windows Vista:
Click on the Start Button . Go to and click on Control Panel.
In "Control Panel" click on Classic View located in the left column.
Click on the Network and Sharing Center icon.
Click on Manage network connections located in the left column.
Locate the default dialer. Right-click once on it and click on Properites in the drop-down menu.
The dialer will pop-up. Click the Properties button.
Under the "General" tab in the "Connect Using:" area. There might be 2 modems listed, make sure the check mark is next the modem that is installed on your computer.
